AND IT'S A..............

B-O-Y!!!

Yes people that's right...no name Thornton will be here in August! LOL!! We bought a new name book yesterday at the store (although I haven't even started looking yet), and the new game plan idea (thanks E!) is for me to go through the entire book, write down the ones I really like, and then hubby will go through my list and narrow it down. Which by the way I really think is a good idea, because this way, we'll wind up with a name we both like. :) Below are some pictures of our little bundle of blue joy....he was moving like a maniac, probably because I drank a big 'ol McDonald's iced tea on my way to the appointment! Hubby got upset, but I was like seriously....I want to make sure the baby flaunts what they've got....and sure enough, the second the device was placed in the gel on my stomach the tech goes "well...." and hubby said "THAT IS A BOY!" And it was. :) It was so amazing to see him moving all around, flashing his little thumbs (he looks like my mom when she dances) like Fonzie. We got some great photos of his face, and to be perfectly honest, he is definitely a Miranda. His profile looks very similar to my brother.
When baby boy was measured, he was right at 1lb, and even though I was 20 weeks and 3 days, he was measuring 21 weeks and 6 days! So at this point he's about 1.5 weeks early! So we're going to keep an eye on him, and if I continue to show bigger than I should be then we'll have an ultrasound probably in early July to see if they'll induce me early, or if he leveled off. :)
I am so terribly excited. I just cannot even believe it. I'm gonna have a baby boy. :)

ONE MORE DAY

I AM SO FREAKIN EXCITED!!! 26 hours from now I'll be at the doctors office waiting patiently (HA) to find out about our little Baby T. :) I am still thinking boy....if for the only reason that we do not have a single boy name...and you know kids...they love to spite their parents. That being said, I have been dreaming about a little girl....so we'll see! I am so totally confused at this point.

Also...Baby has decided play time is at 5 in the morning. Which by the way is when I have to get up to potty. And then there I lay...awake...as my child kicks me. Don't get me wrong...I definitely cherish those moments, I just wish baby liked to party in the afternoon instead of in the morning. :)

I am also nervous about tomorrow....I'm afraid to get on the scale! My appetite has DEFINITELY increased since my last visit, and I'm afraid I've put on too much weight! YIKES!! I don't want to put on too much because I don't want it to be too difficult to get off. Oh well....nothing I can do about it at this point I guess. :)

Okay...that's all for now. Back to work I go.

OH...one more thing...please pray for my friend J who lost her mother to cancer this weekend. Her mom was only 59 years old....the entire family is of course devastated. So please keep her in your thoughts and prayers...and J if you happen to read my blog....I Love You!

HALF WAY THERE!!

Yes, that's right people 20 WEEKS!!! I cannot even believe it! 4 more days until we find out about our little bundle of joy. Pink or Blue?!?! I still think blue....hubby still thinks pink. Although, I partially think the reason he is so confident on pink is that we have 0 boy names picked out. Yes, that's right...not a single one. LOL! Here's this week's update!

Your Baby: Week 20

Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion and dead cells), which will fill the first diaper after birth. And, speaking of the diaper situation...baby's genitals are now fully formed!!

Week 20 of Pregnancy

Boy or girl?? You can find out this week through a routine ultrasound!
Curious about whether that melon-sized belly contains a boy or a girl? Now's your chance to take a peek! Your second trimester ultrasound, scheduled for anywhere between 18 and 22 weeks, gives your practitioner a chance to see how things are going in there. And, wow, are they going! IF you're having a girl, her uterus is now fully formed and her ovaries are holding about seven million primitive eggs. If you're having a boy, his testicles have begun their descent from the abdomen to their ultimate destination: the scrotum. And while your baby is definitely getting bigger (about ten ounces, six and a half inches), there's still plenty of growing room in there, which allows him to twist and turn (and allows you to feel his acrobatics!). You might be noticing your nails are strong and your hair (all over your body) is thicker and fuller than usual -- all thanks to pregnancy hormones and increased circulation, which furnish extra nutrients to hair and nail cells. But while the hair on your head may be lovelier than ever, you might not be digging those sprouts on your chin. This situation is indeed temporary, but feel free to tweeze!

OMG! IF I START GROWING CHIN HAIR I'LL DIE!!

Who do you Call?!?!

Okay.......

So me being the planner that I am, have started making lists. Lists about what to pack for the hospital, lists about who to call when I go into labor, so on and so forth. And let me tell you....the who to call when I go into labor list is HUGE. And I don't really even have any family on there because I figured my parents and in-laws can help out on that front! I mean...how do you make that decision on who to call versus who to text versus who really cares when you go into labor?? I mean naturally...I know EVERYONE will want to know....but where do you draw that line? Do you just call immediate family and leave it at that? My biggest fear is that I will offend somebody...and that is the LAST thing that I want to do. I mean I'm sure people don't really care if they get a phone call or a text or find out on Facebook....but how do you limit that list?? Quite frankly it's insane. LOL. I'm thinking I will ask my friends what they want...and perhaps will only put on the CALL list those that will want to come to the hospital to visit or see the baby.

And then there's a whole different list for who to call once baby is actually here! I mean my goodness.....AAAHHHH!!! Can you say overwhelm?!?!?! I might just have to tell people that aren't at the hospital to keep an eye out for Facebook....because if you know me and my iPhone...we're attached at the hip, and I'm sure once baby is cleaned up either myself or Hubby will have that shot on the iPhone that will be posted onto Facebook. Probably should make sure grandparents get to see baby first though...I mean can you imagine...sitting in the waiting room anxiously awaiting the arrival of your grandchild only to click on your phone and see a photo of said child on the Internet before you even get a chance to see them?? LOL! I'd be dead! So...that's where we stand on THAT front.

Pregnancy Classes. We are all signed up. We are taking just about every single class that they offer...minus the ones for second time parents, and the looney's who decide to go drug free. haha! We start those classes the first week of April. I'm so excited to get started. I am so anxious to learn all I can...and watch my husband as he learns. :) Since we didn't go to college together, we have never taken a class together before. This could be interesting. :) Fortunately no tests...I hope!

Well, that's all I have for today. 8 more days until we find out about little Baby T! CAN NOT WAIT to find out of we paint the nursery blue or pink!

Week 19

Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

Your baby's skin now has a protective coating, while you might be hoping for something to protect you from painful leg cramps. One minute you're lying peacefully in bed and the next your calf muscle feels like it's about to explode. Leg cramps during pregnancy are pretty common (though no one knows exactly what causes them) and tend to strike at night. You might also be wondering about tingling and numbness in your fingers and toes about now. It's a weird sensation but totally normal, probably a result of your body's swelling tissues pressing on nerves. And speaking of weird, have you ever seen a mango dipped in cheese?? Well, that's what your baby looks like this week due to a little growth spurt (she's about a half pound in weight and six inches long) and a substance called vernix caseosa. This greasy white stuff covers your baby's skin, protecting it from the surrounding amniotic fluid. (Without it, she'd look totally wrinkled as she entered the world.) The vernix sheds as delivery approaches, though some babies still sport a bit of the coating at birth.

Wow what a week! I feel HUGE...my belly is definitely out there now if it wasn't before! There's no hiding it. Even in flowy clothes you can still tell I'm pregnant. We had a pretty big milestone this week....I felt the baby move for the first time. It's weird. I can't always feel it...mostly I have to be sitting down perfectly still, and really concentrating...I know it's only going to get more frequent and easier as time moves on and baby gets bigger...but still...definitely exciting. I also read this week that the baby can now hear "outside" sounds. So sounds other than just my voice. Which I told to hubby...and he immediately yelled HELLO at my stomach. I was like awesome...and now our child will hear no one. LOL! The first movements happened on Sunday night...yes, that's right...during selection Sunday for the NCAA tournament. Apparently we have a little basketball fan in there. :) So exciting. I started thinking this week of all the things we have coming up, and I begin to feel overwhelmed....yet at the same time, I am so terribly excited I feel like I could cry at any given moment. Anxiously awaiting the 30th so we can see our little bundle of amazement...and know if we're to paint the room pink...or blue.....

18 Weeks!!

Your fetus has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to you), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon!

You might start to feel your baby moving around anytime now, which is a great way to take your mind off your bothersome back!

Oh, my aching back! If you've uttered those words more than once this week, here's why: Your uterus, now about the size of a cantaloupe, is causing your body's center of gravity to shift, pulling the lower back forward and pushing the abdomen out. On top of all that, joint-loosening pregnancy hormones are wreaking havoc on your muscles and ligaments, adding up to one big ouch! But while your pregnancy back pain has got you tied up in knots, your baby's getting ready to bust a move. At five and a half inches long and five ounces in weight, he now may be large enough for you to feel him twisting, rolling, kicking and punching his way around the womb. Plus, he's developing yawning and hiccuping skills (you may feel those soon, too!) and his very own unique set of toe and fingerprints.
WOW! So much going on this week. I am anxiously awaiting being able to feel our little one moving about in my tummy. I am really starting to show now. And, in 2.5 weeks we find out if it's a boy or a girl. I am so excited about that I can hardly stand it. In case you can't tell from my prior posts. :) I'm pretty sure I am constantly driving the people in my office crazy! I can't help it. I feel crazy! This week I started not being able to go back to sleep when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. SO...I had to stop getting up so many times. I typically wake up around 2...and I make myself roll over and go back to sleep, and then I wake up sometime between 5 and 6:30 about to bust! LOL!! So I have to hurry out of bed and run into the bathroom. And then once that happens I sit awake and "daydream" about our sweet baby. I can't wait to finally be able to hold him or her in my arms and snuggle them and love on them. We are just so truly blessed.
I guess that's all for now. More updates next week! Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!!
xoxo

WEEK 17!!

Your baby is practicing sucking and swallowing as she gets ready for the real thing: a breast or bottle! As for Mom, you may be warding off some unwanted belly touching.

Now that you're starting to show, chances are that friends, coworkers, and even strangers may feel the urge to reach out and touch your belly. If you don't mind, that's fine. But if you do, speak up kindly but firmly. More new developments with your body: a greater sensitivity to allergens these days - totally normal. What's up with your baby? She's about the size of your palm, weighs about five ounces, and she's developing some body fat (join the club baby!). Her heart is now regulated by her brain (no more random beats) to beat 140 to 150 times per minute -- about twice as fast as yours!!
Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.

WOW!! 17 weeks....it just seems insane! We went to the doctor this past Tuesday, and heard a LOUD and very strong heartbeat. :) It is always so much fun to get to hear the baby. Makes me want to go out and buy one of those devices that you strap to your belly so you can listen to them anytime you want to....I won't....but I really want to. :) ha! Well, nothing really new this week....below are my stats!

HOW FAR ALONG: 17 weeks tomorrow!

TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN/LOSS: As of Tuesday + 5lbs

MATERNITY CLOTHES: Well...I wore a pair of my regular pants that I've been able to wear the past few weeks this week, and by the time I got home I couldn't feel my legs because they were cutting off my circulation! I didn't even make it into the house with the pants on...well I mean I made it into the laundry room. :) I'll be going out this weekend to buy myself some new clothes.

STRETCH MARKS: Nothing new...thank goodness. :)

SLEEP: Well, I did sleep straight through the night twice this week! So, that was a huge accomplishment, but of course the second I said something to someone about it I was up like 8 times the next night. :(

BEST MOMENT LAST WEEK: Getting to hear my little baby's heartbeat again. It is just the most thrilling thing. I cannot wait until the 30th so we can find out if it's a boy or a girl!!

MOVEMENT: None so far...that I'm feeling anyway...anxiously awaiting the moment when I can feel all the squirming around. :)

FOOD CRAVINGS: Cheese Balls. It's Bizarre...I told hubby that I might die in the middle of Sam's if we didn't get the monstrous tub of Cheese Balls.

GENDER: March 30th!! 11:30am :) Although, I have decided to think boy, and hubby thinks girl...we shall see!

LABOR SIGNS: None thank goodness.

BELLY BUTTON IN OR OUT: In

WHAT I MISS: Sleeping through the night more often than I do...or at least if I wake up rolling right over and falling back to sleep. None of this peeing 80 million times throughout the night, or once I wake up not being able to fall back asleep.

WHAT I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO: MARCH 30 @ 11:30AM!!! I absolutely cannot wait.

MILESTONES: Now I'm into maternity only pants....lord....
