WEEK 16!

Week 16 of Pregnancy

Your baby's eyesight (and eyelashes!) is developing rapidly, but all you might be seeing in the mirror these days is a body that looks depressingly bulky.

It's hard to watch yourself gain weight during pregnancy, even when you know there's a wonderful reason for it. The challenge, though, is to try to embrace your body's new shape and think of every pound you put on as a sign of good health for you and your baby. As long as you eat right during pregnancy (minimize junk and maximize nutrient-dense foods) and get regular exercise, you'll be fine in the long run. Remember, every woman is different and gains (and loses) at her own pace. One way to show your changing shape some love this week and feel better about yourself in the process: Buy a garment (or accessory) that makes you feel pretty at your new size (and don't forget to buy underwear that fits!).

Hey, your baby's bulking up too! They now weigh in at a whopping three to five ounces, and are four to five inches in length! The tiny muscles, especially the ones on the back, are gaining strength, so they can straighten out a little more. And those eyes are finally working, making small side-to-side movements and perceiving light (although the eyelids are still sealed) PEEK-A-BOO!

Watch what you say...tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And, if you're interested, an ultrasound might be able to determine gender!
OH MY GOSH MY BABY CAN HEAR ME!! I cried when I read that. SO exciting. :) Guess no more dropping the f* bomb for me. :) haha! We go back to the doctor Tuesday. So, next week I'll be able to post all of my stats. Like how much weight I've gained. ha!
We did have a milestone last Friday after work though....I was walking up the driveway with the mail, and hubby looked at me with this goofy grin on his face. I was like what? Do I have something on me?? No no....he said...you just are starting to look pregnant. Talk about a sweet way to tell your wife she's getting fat. :) LOL! But it was genuine, and he had this look of wonderment and awe on his face. I have also noticed that I am starting to eat more. Which may or may not be a good thing. haha! Fortunately, the sweets are still turning my stomach. It was my dad's birthday this week, and I had a piece of ice cream cake, and this baby does not like sweets. I was so sick that night. So, sweets for me are fruits and veggies. I have also been craving hot and spicy things. For example, I met a friend for lunch the other day, and we had some salsa and it was REALLY spicy...and I couldn't get enough of it. I've also been eating Hot Tamales at work all week. We got 2 boxes at the grocery, and I brought one to the office with me, and the other I'm taking to the lake this weekend. :) YUM!
Well, I guess that's all I have for now. I'll post my stats next week after our visit. I'm so excited to get to hear the heartbeat again....and then in 4 weeks WE'LL KNOW! I can't even believe that a mere 4 weeks from now I'll be 1/2 way through with my pregnancy. It's just amazing to me. Time is literally flying right past me.
xoxo

Relay for Life

Hey all!!

I have decided to participate in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life! It is a 24 hour walk-a-thon, and my family has decided to partake this year in honor of Papa. Any donations would be greatly appreciated, as I will need much thought and prayer to get my pregnant booty around that track for an hour! Below is the link, you'll probably need to copy and paste it into your browser. Like I said...any help is appreciated!!

LOVE TO ALL!!

Week 15!! 176 days left!!!

Here is some information from my favorite baby sites on where I am in my pregnancy at this point. Well, at tomorrow anyways. :) So far the baby has been the size of various fruits and vegetables. Next week I think is avocado. :) LOL! This week we're havin an orange.

Continuing the march towards normal proportions, baby's legs now out measure the arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably still can't feel the movements.

You might not be feeling it, but your baby is kicking those little legs and flexing those elbows, while - higher up - you may be coping with some dental weirdness. Pregnancy hormones are pretty rough on your body, especially the teeth and gums, causing inflammation and making them more susceptible to plaque and bacteria. Your formerly healthy gums may have become super-sensitive and prone to bleeding. In addition, you might be coping with chronic stuffy nose or even nosebleeds during pregnancy, also brought on by progesterone surging through your system. Fear not - it'll all pass. In the meantime, focus on how much is happening with your baby. About the size of an orange this week, the ears have migrated to the sides of the head, and the eyes are moving to the front of the face. Plus, your little smarty-pants can now wiggle fingers and toes and make breathing movements in preparation for life outside the womb.

Wow...lots of information to take in! I have been having a lot of stuffy noses....and I have to blow my nose every morning....insane. I never used to have stuffy noses, and now they're chronic. Below are my "stats" thus far. :)
How far along: 15 weeks tomorrow. :)
Total weight gain/loss: As of my last appointment, +2lbs
Maternity Clothes: I have two pairs of regular pants that I can still fit in...I've started wearing 1 pair of maternity jeans.
Stretch Marks: I was just talking about that this morning....none on my tum tum....but plenty on my ta-tas....its so sad....
Sleep: Up in the middle of the night every night to pee. It's starting to get old....
Best Moment Last Week: um...I'm not feeling as tired as I was during my first trimester. So that is great news. :) And it seems my sex-drive is coming back.
Movement: Haven't felt any yet...though hubby swears he felt baby move yesterday....doubtful
Food Cravings: very weird and random...I was on a pop tart kick for a while, and last week I thought I was going to die if I didn't get a Krispy Kreme donut. Weird...
Gender: Find out March 30th! But everyone I know who is having a summer baby is having a boy....so we'll see!!
Labor Signs: nada
Belly Button in or out: in
What I miss: my regular pants. :(
What I am looking forward to: our appointment in two weeks when we get to hear baby's heartbeat again.
Milestones: FINISHED FIRST TRIMESTER! WOOHOO! :)

Long Time No Chat

Wow...it's been a while. So much has happened in my life. First off, my Papa lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday January 27. He was surrounded by family, and it was one of the most peaceful things anyone had witnessed. Needless to say, the family has been pretty devastated. Even though we knew it was coming eventually....no amount of preparing can ready you for losing a loved one. But enough about that......

Back on December 5, 2009, we got a positive. Yes that's right folks....as of tomorrow I am 13 weeks pregnant. :) We went for another doctors appointment this past Tuesday, and got to hear the heartbeat again. Every single time is like the first time. It's such an incredible feeling to know there is a little person in there. I don't feel any different (aside from my boobs being HUGE), and I was SOOO TIRED for such a long time, but I"m on the upswing of that. So HOPEFULLY the next 3 months will be smooth sailing. :) We find out the gender on Tuesday March 30! SO INCREDIBLY EXCITED!!! Our families are super excited. Naturally, my parents freaked out. LOL....true Miranda fashion....lots of crying. haha!

Well, I guess that's all I have time for at the moment....just wanted to catch you up on the goings on of this girls life. Hope all is well with you, and Happy February! <3
